Francis Newbery set up the Glasgow School of Art Club as an informal forum for staff and students. One of the Group of Four’s first public showings was at its 1894 exhibition.
The sisters’ graphic designs well illustrate what the Studio magazine dubbed their ‘Spooky Style’, with its symmetry, highly stylized figures, and symbolic content.
