Shaped novelty teapots were enormously popular in Britain and were widely collected. This example plays on the form of a racing car. Although sculptural, it has a cosiness and sense of fun about it, demonstrating a humorous, very British reinterpretation of the images of speed often used in continental Art Deco design.
