Vase, Charlotte Read for Crown Ducal

Vase with a flowers on surface

1930s, Earthenware, hand-painted and tube-lined, Lent by Beverley

With the Persian Rose pattern this traditionally shaped vase is typical of Charlotte Rhead's designs in the 1930s. Unlike the work of Clarice Cliff and Susie Cooper, Charlotte Rhead's patterns are often more rooted in the Arts and Crafts Movement than the 'Age of Jazz'. However, they seem to blend with modern British styles of the time.
