Out of this World: the art of Josh Kirby

Painted 1983/4, for the 1984 Corgi novel.
Not only Kirby’s first Discworld cover but also the only watercolour one – the rest were painted in oils. Kirby apparently wanted to use up a nice piece of watercolour board. Set in the un-salubrious ‘Broken Drum’ tavern, Twoflower the tourist bounds down the stairs pursuing his many-legged, self-willed trunk, the Luggage. Kirby painted Twoflower literally with four eyes, supposedly misinterpreting Pratchett’s reference to his spectacles.
