Out of this World: the art of Josh Kirby

This one-off painting commission was made for the advertising agency, Bartlett, Ray & Jarvis Ltd on behalf of their clients, Newton Chambers Engineering Ltd. The completed poster on which Canute appeared, advertising their water management systems, is displayed in the exhibition. Not only does Kirby’s King Canute fail to hold back the tide, he also suffers the indignity of a seagull attack.
