'Monty Python's Life of Brian'

The words Life of Brian carved from rock

Finished artwork for the quad poster, 1979.

This painting, inspired by Bruegel’s painting, The Tower of Babel (c.1563), was commissioned by Feref to promote the controversial Python epic. In the end it was never used to publicise the movie because Kirby’s painful attention to detail resulted in the inclusion of too many outrageously offensive incidents that were subsequently cut from the film. Instead it appeared in the 1979 book of the film.
