'I Was a Headhunter'

Man holding aloft the decapitated head of another man

Artwork for the Panther c1955 edition of Lewis V Cummings' book.

This is potentially one of Kirby’s earliest book covers, combining illustration and typography within the core artwork.

The image matches a description of a 1955 Panther edition of Cummings’ reminiscences (written c1941) of his time spent with the head-hunting Colombian Indians of South America. Amongst Cummings’ other work was a biography of Alexander the Great.
