Out of this World: the art of Josh Kirby

Francis Van Wyck Mason, the American historian and novelist, wrote this story of a slave’s rise to power in the days of ancient Rome. It was made into a film starring Jack Palance and Milly Vitale in 1960. Kirby’s background vignette hints at the inevitable ‘love interest’ strand of the story whilst his hero is posed to offer a muscular life study.
