'Jazz' is Matisse’s most famous book. It features colour cut-outs and Matisse’s own handwritten text with his feelings about art, the artistic process, and other musings. The images do not illustrate the text and the latter does not comment on the images. They are paired purely for visual effect.

Published in Paris by Efstratios Tériade in 1947
