Two-piece bathing costume of red-orange wool serge.
Tunic with white wool serge sailor collar and buttoned-in bib-front, both embroidered with scrolling design and Greek key pattern, and with pair of crossed anchors in centre front, in red wool. Front fastening with four white glass buttons. Edges of the short sleeves, separate belt and bottom edge of tunic all decorated with applied bands of white woollen braid.
Pair of matching knee-length bathing knickers, fastening at either side of waistline with single white glass button and at centre back with cotton drawstring. Elasticated knees, the elastic now perished.
Worn by Emily Tinne during her honeymoon in Ireland in 1910, with the matching bathing cap and espadrilles that were also featured in the exhibition.
