Chantal Joffe was born in St. Albans in 1969. She studied at Camberwell School of Art 1987-88, Glasgow School of Art 1988-91 and the Royal College of Art 1992-94. She received a Delfina Studio Trust Award 1994-96 and was awarded the Abbey Scholarship at the British School at Rome 1998-99, which was followed by her first one-person shows in Venice and Bologna 1999. Since then she has held one-person shows at Feigen Contemporary New York 1999, Victoria Miro Gallery London 2000 and Galerie Jennifer Flay Paris 2001, and has appeared in 'Girl' New Art Gallery Walsall 2000, a two-person show with Steven Gontarski One in the Other London 2001 and 'Gardino' Italian tour 2002.
