House paint on cardboard
74 x 110 x 30 cm

Jeff McMillan was born in Lubbock, Texas in 1968. He won first prize for drawing at the Lubbock county fair at the age of 7 and at 15 received a state governor's award for art, presented to him by an astronaut. He studied at Texas Tech University 1987-91 and the University of Alabama 1992-95. He has lived and worked in London since 1998 and in 2001 created the artist-run project space, PEARL.

The work comes form a lifetime's exploration of combining the high and the low.

It was made by submerging a cardboard box into a pool of house paint, one side at a time. The title was printed on the box, which originally housed a drill press.
