Conditions of entryJohn Moores 25The entrantMust live, or be professionally based, in the United Kingdom. May not be an employee of National Museums Liverpool or the A Foundation, nor be a member of the John Moores Liverpool Exhibition Trust. May enter one painting only. Substitutes cannot be accepted. Undertakes that the work submitted is of his or her own origination, and that he or she holds all moral and intellectual property rights in that work. Accepts, by signing the official registration form that the images and painting, if shortlisted, are entered at the artist's risk. The entrant must sign the official registration form or the entry will be invalid. The organisers are not liable for any loss or damage incurred to the image or painting, if shortlisted or selected for the exhibition itself. If shortlisted for stage 2 and the exhibition, remains entirely responsible for the transportation of the painting to and from the depot. The organisers will not be liable for any loss or damage, however caused, either in transit to and from the exhibition, or during any period of storage, packing or unpacking, or in any period in which the work may be on their premises or in their keeping. Is strongly advised to take out their own commercial insurance to cover their work in transit (two-way), at the depots, throughout the judging period and, if selected, during the exhibition itself. Exhibitors will be required to collect their work from the specified depots. Accepts that the painting submitted will be available for sale in the exhibition and that the Walker Art Gallery, should they be interested, is given first option to purchase that work. Accepts that, if a final exhibitor, all sales of exhibited work must be undertaken by NML Trading Ltd during the exhibition period. If selected for the exhibition, agrees to the reproduction of their work (at no fee) in association with the exhibition (including publicity, press, website and catalogue). National Museums Liverpool is registered under the Data Protection Act 1998 and will hold your information securely, not sharing it with third parties. The image(s)One image showing the painting as a whole must be submitted. An optional second image may be submitted if collage and / or relief have been used within the painting. This may show a detail or a different angle of the same work. The image(s) of the painting must not be manipulated in any way and must be of the painting entered. The painting shown on the image(s) must be available, if shortlisted, for stage 2 of the competition and the exhibition itself. The image(s) and completed entry form can be submitted online. If you are unable to enter or submit images online, you can post your image (via CD or 35mm colour slide) to the John Moores exhibitions officer with a completed entry form. Digital images must not exceed 5MB in size. Slide entries will be converted to digital images for stage 1 judging. They will not be manipulated in any way. Full details about entering online or by post, including digital image requirements, will be given in the Confirmation of Registration form once you have registered. The image(s) and completed entry form must be submitted or received by 29 February 2008. Entries received after this will be invalid The paintingMust be new or recent (preferably executed since the last John Moores exhibition held in Autumn 2006). Must be wholly or partly executed in any painted medium. Must be designed to hang on a wall. Must be the original work of the artist named on the registration form. Must, if shortlisted for stage 2, be the same work as that submitted as an image at stage 1 and be available for stage 2 of the competition and if selected for the exhibition itself. When packed for transport, should measure no more than 3m x 3.75m. When unpacked, it must project no more than 0.5m from the wall. Work made up of more than one piece, such as a diptych or triptych, must also be no larger than 3m x 3.75 when displayed on a wall. The exhibitionWorks shortlisted for stage 2 must be available from the sending in week (stage 2) to their return following the judging. If selected for the exhibition, they must continue to be available from stage 2 judging to the close of the exhibition. They may not be removed before the closing date, 4 January 2009. Work sold from the exhibition is subject to a 20% commission charge. This charge will be made by NML Trading Ltd upon completion of the sale and will be invoiced to the exhibitor. The commission charge will attract VAT at the prevailing rate and this will be shown on the invoice to the exhibitor. The charge will be based upon the sale price cited by the exhibitor. Where the exhibitor is registered for VAT, the sale price will, for commission purposes, be the price exclusive of the VAT charge. NotificationIf shortlisted for stage 2 of the competition you will be notified by Friday 16 May 2008. Shortlisted works must be sent to one of the depots between 27 - 30 May 2008. Full details of the depots' addresses and their opening times will be provided in the entry pack (stage 2). If unsuccessful you will be subsequently notified by letter. Following stage 2 judging, entrants will be notified of the jury's decision by letter. Unsuccessful entries must be collected from the depot specified on the entry form. The dates for collection will be included in the entry pack (stage 2). Exhibitors will be notified during the exhibition period about the dates for the collection of their work from their chosen depot (exhibition closes on 4 January 2009).
