The exhibition for John Moores 2012 will run from 15 September 2012 - 6 January 2013.
A first prize of £25,000 will be awarded along with four further prizes, each of £2500. In addition, the winner of the popular visitors' choice prize of £2012, will be announced towards the close of the exhibition. This is the prize voted for by the public.
For 2012, the jury are artists Fiona Banner, Angela de la Cruz and George Shaw, director of Whitechapel Art Gallery Iwona Blazwick and the BBC's Alan Yentob. Find out more on the jury page.
The John Moores Painting Prize is held in partnership between National Museums Liverpool and the John Moores Liverpool Exhibition Trust. The prize remains true to its founding principles: to support artists and to bring to Liverpool the best contemporary painting from across the UK.
The John Moores Painting Prize is open to all painters in the UK. Works are selected anonymously from an open submission by the independent jury, who also award the main prizes. The prize continues to honour the principles of open submission and democratic selection.
