Dem Namenlosen fuhl ich mich vertrauter:
Mit meinen Sinnen, wie mit Vogelen, reiche
ich in die windigen Himmel aus der Eiche,
und in den abgebrochnen Tag der Teiche
sinkt, wie auf Fischen stehend,
mein Gefühl. I feel closer to what language can’t reach.

With my senses, as with birds,
I climb into the windy heaven, out of the oak,

Dominic Shepherd was born in Poole in 1966. He studied at Bournemouth and Poole College of Art & Design 1984-85 and Chelsea College of Art 1985-88 and 1994-95. In 1997 he showed in Art in the 90s, Pure Fantasy at Oriel Mostyn, Llandudno where he was Artist-in-Residence 1998. Recent exhibitions include one-man shows at Clapham Art Gallery London 2000 and 2001 and Atrium Gallery, Bournemouth University 2003; Made in England Vasby Konsthall Sweden 1999, Print UK Manhattan Graphics New York 2002 and a two-person show at Michael Naimiski Gallery London 2004.
