Artist's statement

The four icons in this painting are intended to represent recessive spaces of various depths, seen from various viewpoints. I made several drawings of this image in preparation, although the actual painting still required numerous adjustments and corrections before it was satisfactorily finished.


Ian Homerston was born in Truro in 1984. He studied at Truro College Cornwall 2003-04, Wimbledon College of Art London 2004-07, where he was awarded 'The Prunella Clough Scholarship 2006', and since 2007 has attended the Royal College of Art London.
