Magnificent Desolation

'Magnificent desolation' was the description uttered by Apollo 11 astronaut Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin when he stepped onto the moon. This brand new planetarium show is all about the Moon and the Apollo missions that went there. Magnificent Desolation is being launched in time to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the first moon landing.   Free entry.

Show: The Wrangler

As part of the Liverpool Festival of Science and Technology, this show features Galileo is in his cell in Rome after questioning by the Inquisition. He speaks of Aristotle’s universe, the Pendulum, Theories of Motion, the Telescope, Archimedes, Kelpler and Cannonballs. A thought provoking lecture which leaves one in no doubt why this rebellious man presented such a problem to the authorities. Please collect a free ticket from the information desk.

Show: Bjorn the polar bear!

As part of the Liverpool Festival of Science and Technology, come and meet the life-like polar bear, Bjorn and his handler Ursula. Find out about polar bears and their environment; what they eat, where they come from and even what star sign they are!

Discover what it is like to get up close and personal with one of these incredible endangered animals. You will also be able to try on some Inuit clothing and handle Inuit objects from the museum. This amazing FREE show must be seen to be believed!

Workshop: Inspired by...Cecil Beaton portraits

Coinciding with the Cecil Beaton portraits exhibition and with the support of award winning professional photographer, Zoe Richards, the Walker Art Gallery will be hosting free portrait sessions for visitors throughout July and August.  

This is your opportunity to be photographed in the style of Cecil Beaton like the glamorous stars of yesteryear and to be featured in the online gallery at www.zoephotography.co.uk
