Events for 'The Rise of Women Artists'

Exploring decorative arts, paintings, drawings and poetry our events for 'The Rise of  Women Artists' cover a wide range of interests for you and your family to enjoy!

You can come along to gallery talks - some of which are especially for adult visitors with very young children - which will take you on an informal tour of the exhibition.

There will also be workshops for writing your own poetry inspired by the works on display and opportunities to handle objects related to the exhibition. Plus, don't miss our day of special events to celebrate International Women's Day on 8 March 2010.

For younger visitors there are plenty of hands-on activities in our Big Art children's gallery, including the chance for little ones to create their own 3D monkey to take away based on Emma Rogers' 'Monkey Mother and Child' sculpture.

All events and activities are FREE.

The rise of women’s poetry

Drawing on her anthologies, 'The Poet's View' and 'The Poet's Perspective - Poems for Paintings in the Walker', Dr Gladys Mary Coles will discuss the strength of women's poetry today.
