Liverpool was home to the major ocean steam navigation companies during the Victorian and Edwardian eras. This talk explores the city's connections to the furthest corners of the earth which have made it a world city.

Spirit of Liverpool statue

The Spirit of Liverpool

The National Conservation Centre houses one of the largest marble statues in the country, the huge sculpture of the ‘Spirit of Liverpool’ by John Warrington Wood. Originally on top of the Walker Art Gallery, the statue has suffered in Liverpool's industrial atmosphere.

Find out more about how the statue came to the centre and have fun modelling a new sculpture to represent the city of Liverpool.

Places are free but limited, so please pre-book by calling 0151 478 4999.
