Claw Club, August 2006Brilliant bones and amazing animal pellets
The topic of the last Claw Club meeting was ‘brilliant bones and amazing owl pellets’. Paul gave a talk on bones and we all got the chance to have a look at loads of different skulls and guess which animal they came from. We also learned how to tell what food an animal eats, and how old it is, just by looking at the skull. We then had a treasure hunt in the Natural History Centre were we had to find bones from lots of different types of animal. After this we all had a go at dissecting owl pellets. After we had all put aprons and plastic gloves on we were given an owl pellet to dissect. We found lots of great mammal and bird skeletons and got to take them home. In this section |
