Claw Club, July 2006

Encouraging wildlife to your garden

Making bird seed

The July Claw Club meeting was a huge success. Claw club members discussed various ways they could attract wildlife to their gardens and came up with some great ideas.

We then had a go at making some insect houses and bird cakes. After a lot of fun and a great deal of mess, every Claw Club member left with a selection of home made bird cakes and an insect house to help encourage wildlife to their own garden or back yard.

After playing the bat and moth game, Claw club members than had the chance to meet Horrace, a rare Egyptian long eared Hedgehog. Horrace seemed to really enjoy meeting the Claw Club members but was very tired by the time Jenny took him home. After a special treat of mealworms he fell straight asleep and woke up hours later than normal!

The Bug House team would love to hear what the wildlife in your garden thought of your bird cakes and insect houses? We might even put it on the Claw Club web page.
