About this object

A small male head from a votive underlife statue. The head is slightly turned to the right and has well defined eyes with low arch eye brows and thin lips. He is wearing a conical hat that covers most of the ears to the sides. The back of the head and part of the nose are broken.

    Curators' note: the head is very similar to 16.5.72.72 and 16.5.72.130
    Drooped dated this to the latter part of the 5th century and noted that this and 16.5.72.74 recall the figures of the mid 5th century frieze of the Temple at Phigalia in the British Museum.
