About this object

A very heavy and solid head from a votive statue with much surface dirt. The eye brows are in a low arch, the eye lids with distinct corners that meet each other and the lips are thin. Part of the nose is broken. A wavy S pattern at the forehead and all around the head may indicate that he is wearing a wreath. The top of the head is at an angle and it may be that the statue was attached to an architectural setting.
