Ivory Disc Shaped Lid

About this object

Ivory disc with engraved decoration. The central medalion decoration is of a lozenge formed out of 4 pairs of volutes or semi spirals with long triangular leaves in between them. A band of thin circular lines frames the central medalion along the body of the disc as well as the edges of the lid. In between the two bands of circular lines there is a band of short tiangular leaves. The disc is probably the lid of a circular box and many of its fragments are missing. In several pieces it is mended and fixed to a perspex mount.
