About this object

Statue of the Egyptian god Horus in the form of a falcon, wearing a crown similar in shape to the pharaonic Double Crown. It is positioned frontally with its legs vertical and the feet firmly planted. The statue is different to the majority of similar statuettes in that it is in a light coloured (white marble with gray streaks ) and in the threatening expression emphasised by the prominent brow which is a restoration.

The statue has restorations at the head from the neck and the feet as well as the front of the pedestal base. Some damage to the front edge of the wings and back of tail. The wings are assymetric and this suggest some recutting. There are signs of acid wash and light scratching perhaps in trying to clean the piece and mask the joins.
