About this object

Mummiform shabti wearing a tripartite wig with striations added in black. A pair of small breasts are indicated in the modelling below the lappets of the wig. The arms are crossed left over right on the chest, and the hands hold a pair of hoes added in black. A square–hatched small trapezoidal basket with loops in the uppermost corners is carried on the back. The face is well–formed, and has the eyes with brows added in black. A vertical column of inscription on the front of the shabti names the owner as Pa–her–mer. Excavated by Mace during the 1899-1900 season at Abydos, Cemetery D, Tomb 14B.

Translation of the inscription: The Osiris, the Overseer of the Treasury, Pa–her–mer, justified.

    Description: Excavations directed by Flinders Petrie at Abydos for the Egypt Exploration Fund. The museum provided financial sponsorship towards the costs and received a share of the finds that the Egyptian authorities allowed to be exported outside of Egypt. The museum subscribed to the 1899-1900 excavations and received 179 finds that were accessioned on 24 September 1900, accession series (mainly Early Dynastic finds from the Royal Tombs...)
