Description: This catalogue draws attention to the excellent and extensive collection of Aegean antiquities on Merseyside. The catalogue is arranged by class of object rather than by site, since a number of items lack a provenance. Pottery predominates, but the catalogue also includes Minoan sealstones, Cycladic stone vases and figurines, Minoan and Mycenaean bronzes and a Linear B tablet. The provenanced objects come from 35 sites in mainland Greece, 11 of the Aegean islands, with Crete being represented by 15 sites. The Minoan and Mycenaean pottery from sites on Cyprus and in Egypt has also been included.
