About this object

Mummiform shabtis wearing a plain tripartite wig with fairly short front lappets, with a seshed headband tied at the back added in black. The arms are crossed right over left on the chest, and the hands hold a pair of hoes modelled in relief. The face has eyes with brows added in black. A large diamond–hatched rectangular basket with shoulder straps is painted on the back. A vertical column of inscription names the owner as Yi–hetep–em– Mut. This shabti is recorded as coming from the Ramesseum at Thebes. Although the name of the owner is not listed by Quibell, a shabti for Yi–hetep–em–Mut is illustrated in his excavation account.

The Gilstrap collection was formed by Miss Gilstrap, who contributed funds to the British School of Archaeology in Egypt between 1900 and 1910. She was given a share of the excavated finds in return for the funding she provided.
