James Reeve

1833-1920, Curator of Norwich Castle Museum

James Reeve (1833-1920) was Curator of the Norfolk and Norwich Museum from 1851 until 1894, when the collections were transferred to the building known as Norwich Castle Museum. Reeve retired in 1910 and was appointed Consulting Curator, a post he held until his death. Reeve collected shells and molluscs, and also had a strong interest in fine art. He championed the artists of the Norwich School, especially John Sell Coltman and John Crome.
