Norman Ellison was a naturalist and radio presenter, who broadcasted under the name 'Nomad the Naturalist'. He wrote both as Nomad and under his own name.

At the start of World War I, Ellison enlisted as a private in the 1/6th Batallion, King's Liverpool Regiment, and served in the trenches in the Somme and at Flanders.

In later life, Ellison lived at 36 Mount Road, West Kirby, Wirral.
