Marble statue of a male child, holding a dove, Neronian/Trajanic.
This was probably a funerary monument or grave portrait. The statue is life-size or just under and portrays a child of about 3 years old, clad in tunic over a toga. He holds a large bird at his breast. The roundness of his face with full cheeks, double chin, small eyes and mouth, is underlined by the hairstyle, where thick straight strands of hair form a soft, curved hairline over the forehead. Only the front part of the head is ancient, with restoration having been done to the back half of the head, upper and lower parts of the drapery and the nose. There is damage to the mouth and the bird.
