Bryan Rev Faussett

1720-1776, clergyman and pioneer archaeologist

Bryan Faussett (1720-1776) was a clergyman and pioneer archaeologist. He studied Divinity, Classics and Philosophy at Oxford from 1738 and was ordained as a deacon in 1746. Faussett excavated cemeteries close to his home in Kent from 1757-1773, and recorded over 750 burials in 13 years
