About this object

A man's silver ga'u or amulet box containing a photograph of the Historical Buddha. The front of the ga'u is decorated with repousse work in raised relief in a dense pattern of foliage and flowers, a style popular in Bhutan. The Eight Auspicious Symbols in copper gilt are attached to the front of the ga'u and the window into the box is also finished with a border of copper gilt.
