About this object

Thangka or painting featuring a re-birth diceboard, an educational game which is similar to Snakes and Ladders. Each square features a scenario to be discussed between student and teacher. The students answer determines possible future rebirths, but also paths to enlightenment. The winner is the first to overcome all obstacles, attain Buddhahood and reach nirvana, represented by the Shakyamuni Buddha seated in a stupa or chorten.
