About this object

A large teardrop-shaped mask. The stylized white face decorated with buttons, costume jewels and tin Buddhist symbols. The face is finished with a narrow beard, (brown at sides and white goatee), brown bushy eyebrows and the nose is attached with two stitches allowing it to be folded for travel. The face is framed by a headdress in silk brocade, which is topped with an applique flaming jewel finial and has trailing streamers attached to it with white metal endless knots.
