  • Note
    The striped cloths are made and used by local people in Lhasa - especially for aprons and facings of robes. These were purchased in the street bazaar. Striped fabrics are also produced in a greater variety for sale to tourists.
    Zara did not see any of the finer striped cloth for sale in the villages in Tibet, but she did see people spinning for the ordinary coarse cloth.
