Lewis Sydney Steward O'Malley

India Civil Servant and writer

L S S O'Malley was an Indian civil servant in the early decades of the twentieth century. He wrote a number of gazatteers and historical accounts of India districts (including Darjeeling and Bengal, Bihar, Orissa and Sikkim) and descriptive accounts of India's caste system and Hinduism. His Tibetan objects were given to Norwich Castle Museum in 1941 (possibly after his death), which subsequently came to Liverpool in 1956.
