About this object

Postcard of a carved wood panel showing a tiki (humanoid figure) with another smaller tiki standing between his or her legs. Title: 'PUBLIC MUSEUMS, LIVERPOOL Carved Wood Door from the Pah of Te Heuheu, New Zealand No 114'.

This is a photograph of one of many pieces lost in the May blitz of 1941, when the museum was largely destroyed by fire. The panel was acquired by the museum in 1889 from E Osborne Williams.
