About this object

A hoe (canoe paddle) with a carved inscription on the flat side of the blade - a squared circle with a line through its centre and two semicircles attached to the circle, one on either side. 'JV' is carved on the other side of the blade. There is a small square hole near the tip on the flat side of the blade, not penetrating all the way through. The wood surface is shiny and may be varnished. There is some splitting at the tip of the blade.
