S Marjorie Miss Cox

Donor to the Ethnology collections

The New Zealand Maori items came from her ancester Charles Vallance Robinson, who sailed around Australia and New Zealand in the 'Helen MacGregor' in about 1859, though he may have obtained some items on earlier voyages. A Charles Vallance Robinson was a shipowner sailing between Tasmania and New Zealand at about that time, and was also recorded as an auctioneer in Launceston, Tasmania, in 1856; this may be the same person.
