The plate has a six-character mark in seal script on its base to show that it was made during the reign of the Qianlong Emperor. It is yellow and blue enamelled porcelain. The five-clawed imperial dragon is shown chasing the Pearl of Potentiality. If lost the pearl leaves the dragon helpless and incapable of action.
