Most people think that jade is mainly used for jewellery- and that it is often green in colour. However, for centuries in China, jade has been used for magical and religious purposes and much of it is red, yellow or white! In this talk explore some exceptional jade carvings that were used for all kinds of things such as burials, makeup containers, ceremonies and for decorations on buildings. Jade was often considered even more valuable than gold and is one of the hardest natural materials to sculpt!

This event is part of the Terracotta Warriors exhibition.
