Large vessels, brimming with manioc beer, are passed from person to person at major festivals. It is an insult for a guest to refuse the beer, and with women constantly refilling the bowls, the atmosphere quickly becomes jovial and festive.

These gatherings celebrate such social occasions as initiation ceremonies or marriages and often last several days.
