At the Natural History Centre, we have a whole host of weird and wonderful objects. These include all sorts of animals, plants, fossils and minerals. Some of them are easy to identify, but others are more unusual.

What is it?

This mineral is often used for making iron and steel. Large quantities of it are found in England, Mexico, Australia, Spain and North America. It has even been found on Mars!

What is it?

This creature lives underwater. It can grow to over 1.2m (four feet) long. Once it settles into a place, it will live there for the rest of its life.

What is it?

This animal lives in the warm seas around places like the West Indies, Malaya and Madagascar. It eats jellyfish and can grow up to 2m (over 6 feet) long. Despite living in the water, it lays its eggs on the beaches.
