Major developments at World Museum Liverpool in 2005

World Museum Liverpool doubled in size in 2005 following a major redevelopment, with exciting new hands-on galleries and attractions to bring visitors closer than ever before to our world class collections.

We started with the brand new main entrance, which is now at street level in order to allow easy access for everyone.  This leads to a stunning six-storey atrium at the heart of the new museum.  A pterosaur, an enormous flying prehistoric reptile, swoops down across the atrium to greet visitors, providing a taster of the drama and excitement waiting further inside.

The atrium provides links to every part of World Museum Liverpool.  It is also the home of some important new visitor facilities, such as the Learning base, a dedicated reception and orientation area for group visits with its own cloakroom and picnic facilities.  From the atrium you can also get to the museum gift shop, a toyshop for younger visitors and a new coffee shop.

Here you can explore all of the amazing galleries and attractions added to World Museum Liverpool in 2005:
