Unveiling the sundial

A sundial in memory of Martin Suggett has been unveiled at World Museum Liverpool (15 July 2005). Martin, Head Curator of the Earth & Physical Sciences Department, died in March 2000, following a short illness.

A fundraising appeal led by Henk Wyna and Ray Preston at World Museum Liverpool attracted contributions from friends, family, staff and retired colleagues. Professor Alan Smith, who was Keeper of Ceramics and Applied Art at the museum from 1963 until 1970 designed and made the sundial, incorporating the Kingston Brooch into the design.

The sundial has been mounted on a wall overlooking St John’s Gardens on William Brown St.
