Northern England minerals, care and conservation of geological collections, Palaeozoic fossils, history of science (particularly local and palaeobotanical), Triassic plants and palaeoenvironments, herbivorous dinosaurs and Mesozoic plants, upper Carboniferous palaeoenvionments, geomorphology and mineralisation processes.
