Adze

An adze blade in dark grey stone with an asymmetrical outline and rounded and irregular rectangular cross-section. The butt is reduced at the front and one side. Most of the blade surface is ground, the rest flaked. The bevel is convex and the chin line oblique. The cutting edge is irregular and fractured. The front profile is slightly convex, the back concave. The cutting edge is sharp in places and badly chipped. 'WAKAN AKA' (or possibly WAKAIUAKA') is written in pencil on the bevel.
