AER Motorcycle

This is a rare example of a motorcycle produced by the Liverpool company of A. E. Reynolds Ltd. Albert E. Reynolds (AER) sold Scott motorcycles in Liverpool during the 1920s and then turned his attention to producing high quality motorcycles to his own design. The motorcycle carries the registration EKD811 and although Reynolds did manufacture some engines, this particular motorcycle has a 250cc two-stroke engine supplied by Villiers. They also manufactured a 350cc bike with a Reynolds engine Production stopped at the beginning of the Second World War and afterwards the company concentrated on sales and servicing, no longer manufacturing bikes. In 'Motor Cycling magazine of 30 November 1939 they road tested one of the 250cc AERs and reported that: “its greatest charm lay in its excellent steering and road holding which gave a supreme feeling of confidence on greasy roads and invited fast cornering.” It cost £45 to buy when new in 1938.
