Agkistrodon contortrix (Linnaeus, 1766)

Snake with broad, flat head, clearly distinct from neck, body is fairly stout. Generally copper, orangish or pinkish in colour with chestnut or reddish-brown crossbands which are pinched along the centre of the back. Length up to 1.3 m.
